The
compulsion from regulators for proponents to undertake macro-invertebrate
assessment surveys is imminent. Proponents need to consider engaging a suitably
qualified biological consultant to plan and execute field surveys for stygofauna
(water-dwelling subterranean fauna), troglobitic fauna (cave-dwelling fauna) and
Short Range Endemic fauna (fauna with restricted distributions and poor
mobility).
If
you believe that, as part of your development proposal, your activities may
influence any of these fauna groups, please call Validus Group or email to
discuss survey options.
More so than ever, this issue will require forward-planning on the part of
proponents to ensure the appropriateness of the biological assessment survey
work as a means of forecasting potential disturbance associated with
exploration, mining or other development. |
